Famed violinist Jennifer Koh to play Bach

A benefit concert for Salt Bay Chamberfest

Salt Bay Chamberfest’s exciting 24th season won’t officially begin until Aug. 6, but on Sunday, July 22 at 4 p.m. patrons will have the chance to enjoy a spectacular preview during the organization’s annual Benefit Concert.

The afternoon’s highlight will be a performance by world-famous violinist Jennifer Koh of Bach’s dazzling and acrobatic “Solo Violin Sonata No. 3 in C major, BWV 1005.” An electrifying performer and a Salt Bay Chamberfest regular, Koh was named 2016 Musician of the Year by Musical America.

As in years past, the concert will take place in a former Damariscotta Mills church that has been converted into the stunning studio and home of artist George Mason, at 123 Borland Hill Road, Nobleboro. Mason is also providing Salt Bay Chamberfest’s centerpiece artwork, which will be hung over the stage of Darrows Barn at Round Top Farm, in Damariscotta, during the festival’s two weeks of concerts there.

Benefit concert attendees will be invited to savor Maine artisanal hors d’oeuvres from Damariscotta River Grill and sip wine while being immersed in the beauty of art, music, architecture, and more.

Tickets to this festive benefit event are $150 ($125 is tax deductible). For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.saltbaychamberfest.org, e-mail contact@saltbaychamberfest.org, or call (207)522-3749.
